Conditional evaluation with "if... then... else"

Inside select attribute of value-of element conditional expressions can be used. The keyword "if" is followed by brackets containing the condition to be evaluated. If the condition is satisfied output is specified by "then" part. If the condition evaluates to false then "else" part is used.

In the example the first condition evaluates to "true", as there is an bbb element inside /aaa element. There is no ccc element and so the second condition is not fulfilled.

            <xsl:output  method="xml"

            <xsl:template  match="/aaa">
                        <xsl:value-of  select="if (bbb) then 1 else 0"/>
                        <xsl:value-of  select="if (ccc) then 1 else 0"/>
